During Jane’s residency we had a number of interesting discussions on the cross-over between painting and sculpture, including thoughts on artists such as Jessica Stockholder to Isa Genzken. This is a quote from our discussion recalling the Blackwood Gallery catalogue for the exhibition, ‘Spilled Edge - Soft Corners’, 2000.
‘Painting became sculptural and the sculptural lent itself to thinking about painting. Shape and cloth, paint and support, colour and space were physically materialized (literalized). Each was made independent of the integral conventions of painting […].’ Barbara Fischer, 2000
Jane completed the Turps Art School Offsite Programme, London, from 2019 to 2022. She has an MA Fine Art (Painting) and a BA (Sculpture) 2010 from City & Guilds of London Art School.
